Act 57 requires landlords to provide the option of mediation to tenants before landlords can file for summary possession (eviction) in court.
By providing neutral third parties to assist both landlords and tenants, mediation brokers frank dialogue between landlords and tenants about options for solving rental disputes.
Mediation can help you negotiate:
- payment plans for back rent,
- plans for rent going forward,
- applying for rental assistance together,
- move out options, and/or
- other agreements that support the needs of both landlord and tenant.
