Restorative Justice
What is Restorative Justice?
Restorative Justice is a victim-centered process that focuses on repairing the harm caused by crime or conflict. This process involves all effected parties and considers the needs of the person who was harmed as well as the obligations of the person who caused the harm. Restorative justice empowers victims by centering their needs and allowing their voices to be heard. Currently Restorative Justice cases are referred from the Prosecutor’s Office when a victim expresses interest in the process. The cases are facilitated by the WHMC Restorative Justice Coordinator and a trained volunteer facilitator.
